Country Boy through and through....

It's that time a year again to start doing deer counts.  This is where we go out an and get a buck:Doe ratio and see how many deer are on X amount of acres for management purposes.  We love to go!  It's way more fun riding around the ranch for 2 hours with a goal:)
Papa Jones called the other day and said Jones' cow Starr had her baby!  Grammy sent us a pic and as soon Jones saw the baby he named him Boots, ha!  He had watched Dora for the first time that day and I'm pretty sure Boots inspired him that day:)

One of the elk in the back pens has been trying to pass her baby for a week.  We saw little hooves hanging out of her and was hoping she could pass it herself.  We knew the baby wasn't alive so we let nature takes its course.  After a week, something needed to be done. Cody bought some of those LONG gloves.........We went with him just in case he needed help.  Jones was a lot of help!  Unfortunately nothing could be done and we lost mom and baby......

Our town has a week long celebration every year for the rodeo.  We have a pretty great rodeo in Woodward.  On Tuesday the week before the rodeo the town has a cattle drive through town.  The ranch that has the longhorns are probably about 5 miles from the arena so they drive em' in with their horses and buggies and they go all out!  Jones loves it!

Jones was super excited for the rodeo and was not patient the day off.  So we spent most of our day outside to keep his mind off of it and to wear him out so he would go down for a nap....so he would be in a better mood that night because it was going to be a late night:)

The nap was a success and then we got ready and off we went!  I wanted a cute outfit for the rodeo so I headed up town during J's nap time and shopped.  We have 2 options in this town....Walmart and a very expensive boutique.  I went to the boutique and OMG..............10 years ago I would have spent 300 dollars on a dress but I just cannot do that anymore......for sanity reasons!  So I just came home empty handed and wished Loft or the Gap were a lot closer, got on fb and realized how many selfish, materialistic, flashy people were on that day and patted myself on the back for not buying what I wanted.

Jones looked so handsome.  I got him dressed in his cowboy boots and jeans and his pearl snap like his daddy's.  When he saw Cody put on his cowboy hat, he had to have his!  His is a little to small but it worked for the night!
He loved the whole rodeo.  He was in awe and hollered and cheered the whole time!  He didn't know what to think of the little kids on the sheep.  He thought they were getting hurt:(
We drove in the driveway about 11 and was so excited Jones lasted the whole time like a little champ and didn't fuss once.  It was the best rodeo!  It had rained all week and the temps were in the 80's.  After the rain the sky was sooooo blue and the clouds looked fake.  It was a beautiful sight, beautiful day and beautiful night!

Happy Happy 4th and Good eating!

We had a fun relaxing 4th of July.  We hung out at Crystal Beach majority of the weekend.  We rode the water boats, played some golf, went to the water park and saw a fabulous firework show.
Jones loved his sparklers more this year than he did last year:)

Cody got a few little fireworks for Jones too and he loved them!  He loved the color bombs!

I have been having horrible headaches lately and NO energy.  I decided to take the advocare 24 day challenge.  I loved the cleanse ( not the taste or texture) but I could tell it was cleansing.   I had lots and lots of energy with spark and I was eating like I was suppose to for the most part.  I was still having awful headaches and migraines.  On day 20 of the challenge I was feeling HORRID!  I decided to completely rid my body of chemicals and everything fake.  I was already eating good, but still wasn't able to break away from regular flour and the occasional sweet tea with real sugar.  I finally dumped my flour and bought whole wheat flour, and racked up at our local farmers market and bought organic everything!

The first 4 days were horrible.  I had NO energy and a migraine for 4 days straight.  I knew if I could stick it out until the headache left I would be free from caffeine, processed foods, and the "bad carbs" of white flour.  On day 5, I was a new woman!  I feel amazing.  It has been 3 weeks now and I have only had 1 headache( I had a piece of my friends birthday Key Lime pie and it was so worth it!!!)  It took a few days to get used to Whole Grain Wheat flour but now I kind of crave it.  Cody didn't realize the first few days what was going on until I told him and then he complained every time I made wheat tortillas, ha!  He didn't complain when he didn't know:)  I made a huge thing of muffins and froze them for Jones' breakfast and he loves them.  I made pop tarts and froze them, they were delish!  Jones has loved everything I have made so far and hummus is his favorite!

I made pizza the other day with a homemade wheat crust with our organic meat and real deal mozzarella cheese with homemade ranch dressing...it was so good!  I will never buy packaged mozzarella again.  After you try that huge, slimy, ball of real mozzarella you will never go back!  I still make Cody his favorite things but I stay clear. I am loving this life without headaches!!

Sweet Sweet Summertime

"Peak-A-Boo, Momma!"
It has been hot, hot, hot here in NW OK.  Jones has been running around naked for 3 weeks now. If he is outside, we cannot keep clothes on him.....
Cody got all the summer food plots finally planted.  Now we just wait for rain!  Jones helped him one day and Cody sent me this pic.  Jones was jamming!
Jones rotates from running around the yard naked, playing in water to helping Cody out on the ranch.
It is kind of creepy how good Jones can spot a deer. A few times Jones has yelled, "deer, ober dare!" and Cody just laughs and looks through the binoculars and there is a deer!  Just call him the 'spot king!"
I made some banana muffins the other day and Jones was in love.  His favorite thing to eat for breakfast are those mini blueberry muffins from walmart.  Now I got him in love with homemade fresh "fuffins" that are way better for him.....whoop whoop!
We have been trying to stay cool.  We ventured over to the lake the other day. We decided to give the water park a break.  I am definitely not a lake person......NOT a lake person.  I felt so gross the whole time we were there.  We need a boat before I can enjoy the lake.
We got to see Talon the other day!  It has been almost a year since his bone marrow transplant and he is doing super duper!  We were able to stop by for a quick visit the other day since flu season has passed!  It was good catching up with his momma!
Still trying to stay cool.  Hey, whatever works right?

Happy Father's Days Weekend

Cody, you are the BEST dad!  Jones adores you, and always wants to be around you.  You take him with you as much as you can and Jones is learning so much from you already!  So glad Jones has such an awesome daddy who loves him to the moon and back and would do anything for him!

\

We had a fun weekend. We just finished up some hunts that week so we rested much of the weekend.  Cody took a 4 hour nap with Jones on Saturday.  Cody NEVER naps but when he does he must be exhausted!

Saturday we went to the water park a couple of hours before they closed.  It was fun and not very many people were there.  It got kind of chilly after the sun started going down.  Jones was shivering so hard he couldn't stop laughing!

Sunday we went to church and came home and ate left overs.  Jones was right up under his daddy all day! Jones skipped his nap again that day so we could go help daddy feed the animals.  We hung out on the ranch all afternoon and came home and  I made shrimp cocktail and Baudoin for dinner........ewwwww

Monday Cody had to run to OKC to pick up some deer vaccinations at the capital.  We decided to make a day of it and do something fun!  We gave Jones 2 options.  Go play put-put or go to the Zoo.  I just knew he would choose put-put.  I asked him is he wanted to either play golf or go see the animals....he chose the animals!  He was in heaven.  We didn't bring a stroller and he ran...I mean RAN for 3 straight hours all over the zoo.  I figured he would have fallen out as soon as he got back to the car but he was ready for round 2 and wanted to go play golf next!  He got disappointed when he realized it was one or the other.....

He shot birds the whole trip down to the city..

The zoo was fun...and big....and hot....and lots of fun.  We have never taken him to a zoo before.  I figured since we live at a zoo he wouldn't care for it....boy was I wrong!

After he ran around for about an hour he was getting tired.  He rode on Cody's shoulders for about 20 minutes and almost fell asleep.  I guess that was enough rest because after he got down he ran round for another hour!

He loved everything about the zoo and said that was "cool" about 500,000  times!

We swung by the mall on the way out and Cody got him this basketball.  He conked out as soon as we got back in the car and slept with his new ball that night.

We had a fun fun fun weekend and I hope Cody was Happy Happy Happy!
