Daddy Day's of Summer

Jones LOVES golf.

That's pretty much an understatement.....

He chooses golf in 105 degree temps over the water park........

He even lasts the whole 4 hours of one game of golf....without fussing.....

Halfway through our game the other night it started raining....
Cody said I got the best of both worlds...golf and water park, ha!
Jones was OK with the sprinkles and then the bottom fell out.  Cody scoops Jones up and they come running to the golf cart and Cody found an awning we hung out under for about 45 minutes.  I was hoping Jones would have a mental breakdown, from just sitting there for so long, and we would have to go home and not finish the long game that is golf....but no such luck.  He stuck it out and then finished that game.  He was so good!  This was his "special" day.  His day to do whatever because he wasn't having accidents in his pants and he was going to the potty by himself on most days.  We didn't leave the golf course till almost 9.  It's a good hour drive home.  We stopped at a little town to get a drink and I had promised Jones ice cream too that day and he remembered.  We all get out, it's 10 at night, Jones is shoeless, and eating ice cream.  We got some stares that night.  It made me want to just start telling random people why we were out in the middle of nowhere, looking like wet  hoodrats, with a shoeless toddler and force feeding him ice cream but I didn't.......

Cody needed to get some pics of the animals in the high fence so we put out lots of corn and cameras one day....I think this is Jones' favorite day.  It like a few minutes of "cornbox" heaven!

Jones will stare out the window for hours  watching for his daddy to come home and "get him" to go do manly stuff.....poor kid!

We leave for Texas in 2 days for 2 weeks!  We can't wait for a break!

Lil' Fish

Jones had his first swim lesson the other day.  He was so excited all day and could not get out of the house fast enough!  When we got there he was a little iffy......  It was him and one other little boy his age.  The other little boy was not having it.  Jones was starting to get a little uneasy and wouldn't get in the pool, so I told him I was going to run to the car and I would be right back.  I ended up sneaking behind a few chairs and sat there and watched.  He did awesome after he couldn't see me:)

The next day we get there about 10 minutes early to watch the end of the lesson before J's.  Jones kept walking around the pool edge and it was making me a nervous wreck.  I finally got him to come back to me and I explained to him why we don't play on the edge of the pool and why we def don't walk on the edge.....he could of cared less.  After his lesson, I dried him off, got him dressed because I needed to do some grocery shopping while we were in town.  After he got dressed he walked up to the edge and started playing.  I warned him again about falling in and he just looked at me like I was crazy.  At this time is when I realized he was going to have to fall in to "get it."  As soon as that went through my head, there he went.......Face first, feet sticking out of the water and he couldn't get himself turned upright.  Luckily, I was sitting right there and I threw my phone and keys behind me and grabbed his ankles wailing in front of me.  He was scared out of his living mind!  He screamed bloody murder.  I wanted to laugh but I held it together and it turned into a huge learning experience for him.  Just glad I was right there when it happened!  We had to head straight home because his dry clothes were now wet, and he would have caused a scene at the grocery store because he was still beside himself.  When we got home he told Cody all about his "fall" and why you shouldn't play on the edge of the pool!  Lesson learned!

I had promised him, after swim lessons, if he obeyed his teacher and listened good we would stop for ice cream for dinner.  The blizzard definitely cheered him up!

This is our county road

We have gotten so much rain this summer.  We usually only get about 2 inches from May to September and we got about 14 inches in the month of July.  It filled up all of our empty lakes, which will help duck season out a lot:)

This summer has not been too hot either.  We are use to 115 degree temps ALL summer and we have only gotten over 100 a few times.  Other than that it has been nice!  Jones still likes to run around in his undies though........
