Campbell Clan and Deer!

Nawna, Doodee, Josh and Bri came to visit!  We had a great time.  We ventured out on the ranch every day and shed hunted.  Cody found all the huge buck sheds he wanted to find.
Who falls asleep on a 4-wheeler......this kid righ here!

Played some golf, got pedicures, got a massage!

It's Josh A Roo!

We also had our first fawns of the season while they were here!
This is Jones' favorite time of the year.  He loves loves loves the baby deer.

The first picture was taken in 2011...he was so little.

"I ain't skeered!"
We are up to 48 fawns right now and have only a few more mommas to go.  We aren't bottle feeding this year, so we have a little break!

Mother's Day 2013

My boys out do themselves every year.  I got the whole weekend for Mother's Day.  They let me sleep in 3 days in a row.....3 DAYS!

Although Jones did come in our room early on Mother's Day and they kicked me out of bed......

Looking at this picture makes it worth it!

The weather has been so nice lately.  We have finally moved on from frigid temps for awhile.  We had dinner out on the deck under my new umbrella!  Cody cooked dinner and all!

There was a circus that had come to town.  We decided to go.  I figured it was a little bitty rink-a-dink circus, but this thing was a FULL ON HUGE REAL DEAL CIRCUS!  The tent took up about 2 baseball fields it looked like.  Tickets were crazy expensive and I didn't want to spend that much money and Jones not sit through it all or freak out when the elephants came out etc.  So we just went to the carnival that was set up beside it.  He loved the train, of course, and the snow-cones.

He talked us into getting this huge thing at DQ and wouldn't share it.......ha.

They definitely made my Mother's Day special, just like they do every year.  So blessed to have them!

Guns and Good Causes

I wrote last month about the skeet shoot I signed up for to help raise money for Cystic Fibrosis.  Well he has come and gone and I SOOO chickened out.  Cody stepped up for me and took my place and was on my "girl" team:)  I just could not shoot a gun.  Shoot a gun 50 rounds at that.... My girlfriends and I got together one night to practice and I was going to face my fear and deal!  Well, that did not happen.......Cody stepped up again and saved me.......

The shoot was a blast.  It lasted all day long and Jones was a CHAMP!  He enjoyed all the action and picked up a girlfriend of his own...PRECIOUS!  The wind blew like crazy and no one was shooting good.  The wind kept blowing the clay all over the place....Let's just say my team didn't come close to winning.... but it was super fun to hang out with the girls all day and watch them shoot.  Thank you Cody for helping a girl out:)

Jones loved the "horsies".

When we got home we chilled in the backyard and burned a bunch of crap that had multiplied over the year.  Cody cleaned out the deer barn and made room for some storage space!

It had rained a few days before and it was still a little muddy/slippery on the clay part of our driveway.  Jones took off running around the house, slipped on his bum and then managed to face plant in it.......now, this would have been funny for a normal 2 year old, but my lil country bunchkin of a redneck 2 year old hates getting dirty....go figure.  This made it even funnier!  He was distraught and I wish I knew how to post videos to the blog because it is a great laugh!  We went in and cleaned up and got ready for round 2!  Yes, he did it again and it was even funnier!  This time I even smeared a little mud on me to try to make him feel better..........well it didn't work.  I might have to just throw him in a big pile of mud one day..........

Potty Training Round 2

Why are lil boy bottoms so cute in lil underwear?

Potty Training round 1 was a fail when I resorted to pull ups at night.  I had him fully potty trained at the end of  February.  This momma got sleep deprived when a little boy kept waking her up every 30 minutes to potty....so I did the logical thing and stuck pull ups on him......as soon as I did that he regressed back.  So I gave it a break, a long break, kept putting it off, because lets face it......potty training is not fun....I repeat...NOT FUN!

I followed the 3 day potty training.  I still stand by her method although the lady that wrote the book really pissed me off.  When you buy the book, it comes with having access to her, to ask any questions you may have, or if you need a pep talk, if you need encouragement etc.....  Well I emailed her a few times and she was very helpful.  The last time I emailed her I told her about the pull up situation and asked for help from there.  Well she is big on THROWING ALL DIAPERS AND PULL UPS AWAY so you won't be tempted to use them.  Her only response back was, "why did you put pull ups on him, you were supposed to throw them away, if you don't follow my method exactly it won't work, and there is NO hope for you..........."  The End.....nothing else has come from her.

I put my pride down and restarted the method and Jones had it down in a day.  After a few days I rewarded him with a big ole Dr.pepper at dinner with a big ole' pizza.

Right after dinner he just stood there and went in his pants......Pretty much laughing at me saying, "ha, jokes on you, thanks for the dr. pepper!"  He was having a few issues for awhile that he shouldn't have!  So we took ALL his toys away.  All 545 tractors, all 265 trains, and all 160 balls.  Then he would miraculously go in the potty next time and so we would bring ALL his toys back out.  When he would have ALL his toys he would go back in his undies.....repeat.  I finally just took them ALL away and now every time he goes to the potty he gets ONE back instead of all.  It's working out a whole lot better!

He did have to start reading a lot again.........to fill the void of no tractors:)
Now he only has accidents at church.......Not sure if he is scared to tell the ladies, or he is just too busy playing.  Church has been cue for him to just go wherever he wants.....

At home he is golden!  He runs around in his underwear because he can go by himself now!  He hasn't mastered pulling down his pants, but he can those undies!

(my child does not ride down the road like this....only on the ranch!)
And it is oh' so cute and hilarious!

"No mommy, I will not get down, nor will I be careful!"

"Superman to the RESCUEEEE!"

Oh, Jones!  One day you are going to be reading this and wonder why I plastered that cute lil underwear booty all over blogger, but honey, it is just oh so adorable and mommy is sorry!

Bye, Bye Baby....

Where has my baby J gone?  It's like he transformed into a lil boy over night.  The same laid back, chill lil dude, but with an opinion now!  More adventurous, more independent, more risky, more boo boos, and more drama, ha!

The other day I didn't take him to town with me to run errands because it looked like we beat him.  On my birthday he tripped over tree roots down the whole trail.  He came out with skint knees, gashes on his legs and huge scrapes.  The next day we ventured out on the ranch to help Cody fill protein feeders.  A few feeders are inside barb wire fences.  He decided to crawl under it.  On his way back in ,when he bent down, he bent down on the barb wire and it scratched him from the top of the head all the way down to his chin....he screamed bloody murder....just glad he missed his eye!
He turns more into his father everyday.  He has the best eyes.  He can spot a deer a mile away, behind some brush, hunkered down hiding!  He can spot a shed a mile away.  He found like 4 the other day all by himself.  He was SOOOOO excited!  He can tell you the difference between an Oryx and an Addyx... I can't even do that!  He knows the difference in an Axis and a Fallow.  He knows the difference in the buffalo and the water buffalo, Elk and the red deer!  Turkeys, crows, owls, dove, vultures......the boy knows his animals!

He has friends that he prays for.  That he talks about at home.  "You know what Crosby did, mama?"  You know what Claire said to me, mama?"  He tells me when he misses them, when he wants to go see them and that I could stay home if I wanted, he can find them:)

I am reminded daily that he is not my baby boy anymore..........

Then there are days like today when I see him napping and he HAS to have his "night night" to fall asleep and I know he will always be my baby boy.
