Nawna's Birthday Weekend

We had been trying to think of something fun to do for Nawna's birthday weekend and thought a weekend in Fredricksburg would be a good place for us all to meet. Cody and I were making all these plans when we finally decided we needed to check with Kim to see if she was even available that weekend!! We wanted Uncle Josh and Bri to be available too. Come to find out Josh and his band had a concert in Dallas that weekend at the Granada Theater!
Jones slept till 10 for me the morning we were to leave...score! We packed up and waited for Cody to get home from work!
We got to Dallas about 3. I scored a great deal on Priceline for the Omni in Dallas. It had a pretty great view. When we got there, there was probably 1,000 women in the lobby. We were thinking this might take awhile to check-in. Luckily, a hotel staff lady saw our big eyes and pointed us to a small line. They were having a Mary Kay convention and there was pink everywhere! Now I know why I got such a great deal:)
We met Kim and Bri at the hotel, got ready and met my sisters at a restaurant across from Granada theaters. Uncle Josh got to meet us for a quick bite after they did a quick sound check. We prepped Jones for "what to expect." He has been wanting to see his Josh-a-roo perform for awhile but they have never played anywhere we could really bring Jones. This was the perfect place to get a 3 year old in:). I think the age limit was 10 but they let J in luckily. We got there at 7 and waited around till 9 for Josh to come on. We put ear plugs in J's ear and kept him entertained! Josh took him back stage for a mini tour and he loved it!
Out came The Rocketboys!
The look on Jones' face when Josh came out on stage, under the bright lights was priceless! He reached for my phone and started taking pictures. Josh looked up in mid song once and gave jones a smile and Jones squealed. He was so proud of his Uncle!
Then he just stared at them for 30 minutes, in awe.
At one point Jones yelled, "Josh, hey Josh," and it was loud enough for half the room to look back and see who the dude with the little voice was. When they realized it was a 3 year old everyone smiled and awed.
After 30 minutes he turned around and wrapped his arms around me. I sat down with him and he fell asleep with some loud music. He was a champ and so very proud of his Josh-a-roo!
I'm sure everyone was wondering why we had a 3 year old out so late at a concert but it was a once in a lifetime experience and he loved every minute of it!
The next morning we all slept till 11. Check out was at 11 so we scurried out as fast as we could! We took Nawna to YO Steakhouse and she took us to the Dallas World Aquarium! It was pretty neat. Jones was just interested in the sharks!

Happy Birthday, Nawna!

If you don't know who The Rocketboys are, your missing out!

I Don't Dance.....

I’ll never settle down,

That’s what I always thought

Yeah, I was that kind of man,

just ask anyone

I don’t dance, But here I am

Spinning you around and around in circles

It Ain’t my style, but I don’t care

I’d do anything with you anywhere

Yes, you got me in the palm of your hand

Cause, I don’t dance

Love’s never come my way,

I’ve never been this far

Cause you took these two left feet

And waltzed away with my heart

No, I don’t dance, but here I am

Spinning you around and around in circles

It ain’t my style, but I don’t care

I’d do anything with you anywhere

Yes, you got me in the palm of your hand, girl

Cause, I don’t dance

The Small Things.....

I swam with my little guy today in his mini pool.

I cried the whole time.

Huge crocodile tears.

The ugly cry.

The cry that almost made my son go run for help he was so freaked out.

Today is the first day my child has sat Indian style.

I have put his legs like this before to see if they would bend that way, which usually ended in him being annoyed and running off to play a "kid game!"

My greatest fear while pregnant...........

Was passing my jacked up genes to my child.

I was born with a rare bone disease and blogged in depth about it a few years ago. Most people just thought I was bow legged growing up and I wouldn't correct them. It seemed easier this way. I could NOT sit Indian style! On the inside it just hurt. Walking hurt, running hurt, sitting hurt......

After 2 surgeries, a rod in my femur, 5 screws and 5 huge long scars on my leg, my legs are somewhat straight. Jones rubs them and ask me what happened. How do you explain that to a 3 year old?

Jones has been complaining of his legs hurting after he plays hard and that scares me.

It just made me pray harder.

Cody's wish is for Jones to be an athlete like him and play sports. If he does carry my genes he won't be able too.

It just made me pray harder.

Today felt like a huge victory in witnessing the smallest of things.

Brady Happenings

The Cassell's have been keeping us posted on the doggys and sending lots and lots of pictures:)

We have been riding around ever evening on the new ranch trying to learn it! It's gorgeous down here.

Daddy got him a pig the first night. Jones was so excited. He has never seen a wild hog. They are everywhere down here.

We have been going non stop all week. I have enjoyed the sleepy cuddles this brings:)
We have started spending our days in the water. It's toasty down here.

Trying to keep cool with anything cold/frozen!

We had a fun 4th. They had a huge parade in town, we were invited to a big cookout and it was yummy and swam some more.

They had a huge street dance and it was so much fun! Trick Trevino was there. Cody held Jones while he spun me around the dance floor, er, street:). Jones had his first official two-step with me. He didn't want to stop!

We ended the 4th with a fire in our new fire pit Cody finished and s'mores.

Our first week in Brady has not disappointed!

Staycation 2014

After we unloaded ALL of this in Brady, we got Jones' room all set up and headed east for a 2 week break!

We loaded up the dogs and we found the perfect home for them. We had been talking a lot about getting rid of them because Jones was deathly afraid. But we never really got on the ball until we moved. This was the perfect time to find them a good home. I would not have left them just anywhere and thankful they are being spoiled now.

Our first stop on Staycation was Peden Family Reunion. They had the coolest pool!

This is the field Cody proposed to me in:). There is nothing better than a freshly cut hay meadow.

Then we ventured over to Papa Jones and Grammy's house. Jones loves Grammy's bicycle!

We got to see cousins and first cousins and second cousins!

Cody and I got to venture off for a couple days to sleep in and relax.

We found a carnival at MiMi's and it was a lot of fun.

We played laser tag and I think I had a little too much fun. I kept wanting to go back and play again. It was THAT fun!

We had a very good dinner one night at Joes Crab Shack. Cody and I had a quiet meal while jones played on the playground...win/win!

Tried out top golf for the first time. SO MUCH FUN! I don't play golf because I can never hit a ball but I was blasting them that night!

We had lots of back-porch-sitting time, watching/catching fire flies, drinking from the water hose and lots of family time.

We rested up from our big move!

Now all settled in in Brady! Cody's first official day was the 1st! I got our house all set up in record time(2 days) and I was wore out.

Excited to build our new life here!
