Since we are still houseless for the moment, I jumped at the chance to house sit/ babysit for our Aunt and Uncle while they went on Vacay. 6 days in East Texas, Jones got in house playmates, I got a comfy bed and a gorgeous view!
And I got ALL these rug rats!
Our fist day was busy. Pickup from school, gymnastics, batting practice and dinner in the back of the car during all the chaos. It was fun and Jones enjoyed the change.
When I had agreed to this I didn't realize Mother's Day was during this time...... So I made me some Mother's Day cupcakes!
Took the kids to an indoor jump park.
Slip-n-slid it up!!!
Jumped jumped and more jumped.
Wore a monkey out.........
Then.......
Complete devastation to the little town of Van. I was prepared for bad weather and had the kids sleep downstairs in the living room. Soon after all the kids were asleep my phone starts blowing up. My aunt had gotten an alert on her phone about a tornado warning, my phone was going crazy telling me to take cover and Cody was in Pearsall giving me weather updates too. I woke the kids and put them under the stairs in a closet. Annabelle never woke up. I just scooped her up and layed her back down in the closet. Nannie and dado came over to. I felt safe under the stairs. I was texting Cody's family in town and my MIL tells me they are hunkered down in the bathroom and something was definitely going on at their house...... Several minutes later wind, rain, hail all came full force. After it was over I texted my MIL and their house had damage and 3 huge 50-100 year old trees were down and 1 was on their house. Luckily they didn't take a direct hit and most of their damage was from debri and 100 mile an hour winds. Their neighborhood was not so lucky.......
Round two was supposed to hit within 30 minutes.......with another tornado possible. Luckily it skipped Van and hit the next community to its northwest. After round 2, no one in town had cell service...... Cody was freaking out cause he was in Pearsall and I was freaking out cause I couldn't get ahold of Kim or Jed. All I knew was the stuff on fb that I was reading and it wasn't good.....
Hers the tornado path. Me and the kids were at the top of the M where it says 9 miles...........
Nannie and Daddo celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary while I was down!
Cody was able to come down too to help with the cleanup. Van looks like a war zone and seeing everything in Van last week makes me think of Woodward and that tornado that hit while we were there. My hearts breaks thinking about it.
