Kristen, Terre and Jeff came to visit this weekend and we had a lot of fun. New Year's day was perfect, kind of..... It was 40 degrees, no wind and we were just gonna show them around in the truck since it was still a little chilly, but they wanted to ride 4-wheelers and it was super cold but a lot of fun. We took them to Patsy's Island so we could dig around for Indian people and found a lot of bones which we pretended were human bones, but they were probably cow bones, lol. We made it to the back of the ranch and saw a pretty sunset and even walked down the HUGE canyon in the very back! I am not sure how we made it down but we did. We all walked around it and after we got to the other side I don't think they wanted to walk all the way back around it so we had the bright idea of walking through it, Kristen chickened out and started walking back from the top. We all made our way down, very scary, and some how made our way back up the other side. This canyon is huge and very deep and we were all out of breath when we finally climbed out, but it was a lot of fun. We were all pooped when we got home, but luckily I put a pot of chili on before we left, so I didn't have to cook. After a long day outside in the cold, chili was perfect!
Today we woke up to freezing temperatures! It didn't snow, but it was really foggy and all the fog I guess froze and fell and every tree was icy, it was really cool looking but super miserable feeding the deer this morning. Then Terre had the bright idea of digging up bones again in 10 degree temperature. We ditched the 4-wheelers and just drove as far as we could and walked the rest of the way. Luckily, Cody had enough face mask's and coveralls for us all!
Terre and I had so many layers on we were looking fluffy! Kristen decided to stay home and sleep and missed a fun time! I think today was the coldest yet! We dug for a couple of hours till we were to cold to move. I think they were really excited about this Indian place and thought they would find something, but I think the OU department already dug up the goods! We did find a huge piece of flint that looked like it had been shaved down, it was super sharp.
We ventured over to the other side of Patsy's Island and the water was frozen 5 inches thick so we had fun sliding on it for a bit. Cody tried to do a snow angel but it didn't come out to good.
Don't worry, Kim, it wasn't deep, so if we fell through we wouldn't go under :)
After playing on the ice for awhile we were frozen solid and headed home .
We had a great weekend and we were so glad my sister's came to visit! Terre and Jeff brought their dogs, a chihuaha and a cocker spaniel and Kristen brought her pug and Duke and Drake loved them! So glad our dogs play well together!
