It finally warmed up enough for mom and dad to take us out on the ranch with them! When it's below freezing we aren't allowed to go because we shoot straight for the lakes and then we freeze our behinds off! Today was in the 50's with a nice cool breeze and mom and dad let us walk the canyons with them, while they looked for sheds. We only came across 1 little Axis shed, but it was totally worth the 3 hour hike! We also got to take the camo truck!! We have never ridden' in that one before. Let me tell you what dad did last week, ruff ruff! He was going in and out of the canyons' in the dodge and one day the breaks just didn't feel right. So he decided to call the dodge dealership to bring it in for repair and in the meantime not to drive down a canyon. Well 2 days before he was suppose to take it in, the breaks completely stopped working! So he had to start driving the camo truck with the high rack. Well it's not fun driving that truck so he decided to take the high rack off and it's hanging in the barn. Dad will put it back on when we have hunters and they want to go on a safari ride! So back to goofy dad, he had to drive that truck 12 miles to town with NO breaks! He just down shifted when he had to stop and went around town, instead of through town. He made it in one piece, thank goodness! So we got to test drive the camo truck, woo-hoo! Mom was being annoying and wouldn't stop taking pictures! She didn't even get my good side, ugh!
We got to go in and out of canyons for 3 hours! Mom and dad even took us to the natural spring lake and let us swim and the water was crystal clear. We saw some ducks, man they looked good. We had such a fun day and glad it has started to warm up so we can have more fun days with mom and dad. We saw the coolest canyons with the coolest erosion's and silly mom didn't bring her camera for the hike. She missed out on some great pics! When we got home we were wore out! I was ready to go home and sprawl out in my warm hay and dry off from the lakes, but Drake was to tired to even jump out of the truck. Mom had to jump in the back and give him a little push and a little butt whippin' for tearing up the corn sacks.
All in all, today was the best day we have had out on the ranch!
Talk about a cool coincidence, the following two quotes are straight from my Daily Guidepost devotional for Feb. 28th.....Dominick collapsed into his mother's lap and proclaimed with four-year-old earnestness,"This is my best day ever!" Then in the last paragraph it said.....By the time I said my tearful good-byes, I realized it had truly been a "best day ever." Duke, I'm so glad you and your wonderful mom and dad also had a "best day ever!" It went on to say that wonderful days come from the love of family and friends and the assurance that God walks with us through all the days in all the stages of our lives.....enough said! Love ya'll!!!
